[Document automation]
Legal document automation for law firms
Legal document automation turns the templates your firm already uses, such as retainer agreements, engagement letters and standard pleadings, into documents filled in from intake answers and matter data in seconds. It's for owner-led firms of 5 to 50 people whose lawyers and assistants still copy names, dates and clauses by hand.
Starts at CA$2,500
What can legal document automation produce?
It can produce any document your firm drafts from a template, filled in with the client and matter details you already have.
- Retainer agreements and engagement letters
- Standard letters, forms and pleadings
- English and Spanish versions from the same answers
- Finished files saved to the right matter
How is it different from mail merge or Word templates?
Unlike mail merge, automated templates handle conditional clauses, repeated sections and calculations, so one template covers many variations.
- Clauses appear only when they apply to the matter
- Lists of parties, children or properties repeat as needed
- One current version of each template, so outdated copies stop circulating
How does a project work?
It starts with a free 30-minute audit to pick the documents that cost you the most time, followed by a fixed-scope project of two to four weeks.
- Audit: we rank your documents by how often you draft them and how long they take
- Build: we add the logic to your existing templates, keeping your wording
- Launch: your team tests real matters, then we hand over the templates
Who reviews the documents?
Your lawyers do: automation produces a first draft in seconds, and every document still goes through your firm's normal review.
- Templates are written with your lawyers, clause by clause
- A change to a template is made once and applies to every new document
- You own the templates and can edit them later
How much does it cost?
Starts at CA$2,500
Fixed-scope document automation projects start at CA$2,500. The free audit gives you an exact price before you commit. If you'd like a deeper written assessment first, a paid audit or one-week sprint costs CA$500 to CA$1,000.
Every project is designed and built by Antonio Manzanares.
Frequently asked questions
- Which tools do you use for document automation?
- We use whatever fits your setup, including Clio's document automation, Microsoft Word and Google Docs. The audit picks the right one for your firm.
- How many documents can be automated in one project?
- Most first projects cover the three to five documents your firm drafts most often. More can be added later.
- Can documents be generated in Spanish?
- Yes. The same intake answers can produce English and Spanish versions of a document, as long as your firm provides or approves the Spanish template.
- Do we have to rewrite our templates?
- No. We start from your current templates and keep your wording. We only add the fields and logic.
- What happens when the law or our wording changes?
- You update the template once and every new document uses the new version. Optional support covers changes if you'd rather we make them.
